Due to the timing of our school weekly email I’ve decided to change our weekly posts to share our PLANNED schedule for the week instead of looking backward on the prior week. I hope this helps both parents and students plan ahead for the upcoming week. To that end I’ll post this both here and then again in Google Classroom for the kids to see.
Full Grade Level News

For both Math 7 & Pre-Algebra
We have our iReady testing next week for math on Tuesday and Wednesday. This testing replaces the STAR testing. We will not have math class these days.
We’ll have a home practice assignment given out Wednesday that will be due Friday.
We’ll work with equivalent ratios and learn about markup, markdown and commission in class on Thursday and Friday.
A few notes for students: Please bring pencils, binders, and your blue folders with your module and home practice every day for class. Remember that copies of home practice are posted in Google Classroom if you leave your things at school. You can also always check Home Work Hotline for what our assignments are (and if papers aren’t with you, go to GC to see the paper).
A few notes for parents: Please help your child stay organized by looking at their materials and checking to see that they have what is expected. See a blank part of the module because your child missed school? Know that we post video notes daily for the class. Kids may come in during a study hall, lunch or tutorial to access these videos if they aren’t able to at home. Encourage your child to show you their planner. I write our home practice each day on the board in class and remind them to record it. But, Homework Hotline is a great double check for you.
We will meet on Tuesday during tutorial to work on equation solving. The kids need a lot of practice with this review topic so unless they are missing work for another teacher I’ve asked that they come to math on Tuesday. This gives us a math class we would otherwise not have due to testing.
We’ll be learning about angles and using equations to solve unknown angle problems on Thursday and Friday. Our mid-module test will be a week from this coming Friday.
Notes for parents: Your child has a text book at home and I posted materials in Google Classroom (pages where equations are taught in the book) so that the kids could hopefully do some work on refreshing this skill over the weekend. Your support would be super helpful to them. After two days of word problems and equation solving, most kids are already feeling better.
Notes for students: We will have an assignment given out on Tuesday that will be due Thursday. It is all equation solving so that you can get some extra practice before we move on to angles at the end of the week.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
